Flying Fox Ventures, founded by Rachael Neumann and Kylie Frazer, provides early stage capital to propel Australian and New Zealand companies across the globe.

We have a great portfolio of 20+ companies including Fresh Equities, JigSpace, Goterra, Xailient, Mass Dynamics, Adatree and Catalyst Technologies and we’re just getting started.

We are thrilled to be hiring our first Investor role.  We are looking for someone who loves the beautiful mess of early stage as much as we do.  You’ll need to be a fast learner and a good talker - obsessive about details and customer delight.

About the role

This is an all rounder position.  You will be exposed to all the parts of a venture firm - from screening startups, managing the investment process, helping with investor relations and working with the portfolio companies.  We want you to understand how every part of the business works because this is a partner-track role.  No guarantees of course, but we are looking for a long term love...

We don’t expect you to have experience in all these areas - part of the fun will be learning by doing.  As a guide, you can expect to be responsible for:

  • Screening investment opportunities

  • Managing due diligence processes

  • Sector deep dives

  • Financial modelling and scenario planning

  • Participating in investment committee meetings

  • Negotiating and documenting investment terms

  • Work within the portfolio including assisting with strategy execution, mapping capital strategies and troubleshooting

  • Investor engagement and communication

  • Attending industry events

  • Active role in internal operations and strategic initiatives

About you

These things are really important to us - and we hope they are to you:

Openness:  First, we strive to be good humans.  Transparent in all we undertake, doing the right thing is our foremost business principle.

Discovery:  We are learning all the time, and not afraid to be challenged on assumptions.

Discipline:  Consistent investing requires an ever-churning funnel and building processes to keep all the balls in the air.  At times, it’s not glamorous.  Doing the work is what makes us great.

Fun:  See what we did there? Discipline with fun! We don’t take ourselves too seriously. Feel free to bring your weirdest, wildest self. Did we mention our Ops Associate has 17 cats?

Your background is less important to us, but we would love you to have solid transaction experience.  This is not an entry level position - we are looking for a consummate professional with plenty of fuel left in the tank. Together we will figure out if it makes more sense for you to start as an Associate or a Manager - it’s more important that we find the right person above experience level.

Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.  You need to be able to drive Excel, Powerpoint and a range of cloud-based technologies with ease (and even wow us with a new trick!)

You will need to be able to work autonomously as this is a fully remote and fairly flexible, full time role.  Both partners (one in Sydney, one in Melbourne) live bustling personal and professional lives - finding the balance to make it all work is a non-negotiable for our team culture.

Please apply by filling out the Application form here.  We believe you are more than your CV and want to get to know the real you - so don’t worry about sending one. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.  Applications close on 4 July 2021.
